Introducing Masmak Fortress
Masmak Fort is located in the southern suburbs of Riyadh, 23 kilometers from Riyadh Airport. It was built in 1865. In Arabic, it means "tall and thick building". Hundreds of years ago, it was indeed a solid fortress.
For a long time, this place was a symbol of ancient Saudi monarchy and the birthplace of modern Saudi family rule. It has now been transformed into a historical and cultural museum. Admission is free and the museum provides a detailed account of the Saudi Kingdom's origins and transformations. Wandering through this ancient building, one feels as if witnessing the rise and fall of a kingdom.
