Atushi Tianmen is a natural stone arch hidden deep in the Tianshan Mountains, about 70 kilometers northwest of Kashgar. Because it is located in the southwest of Wuqia County, it is also called "Wuqia Tianmen".
This "Gate of Heaven" towers over the Pamir Plateau, shaped like a "0," approximately 100 meters wide and over 500 meters high, easily enough to accommodate the entire Eiffel Tower. Its thickness is immeasurable, like a gate in the wilderness, seemingly trying to rival the heavens for height. Though beneath a blue sky, it often shrouds itself in clouds and mist, creating a natural landscape that is a marvel of natural craftsmanship.
Because of its "majestic, dangerous, deep, quiet and mysterious" nature, the American magazine "KADVENTURE" recommended it as one of the 25 newest adventure routes in the world.
Atushi City has a typical temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons and sufficient sunlight and heat.
It takes 2 hours to walk from the scenic area gate to the observation deck.
