Introducing Huadu District
Huadu District, formerly known as Huaxian County and Huadu City, was established in 1686, the 25th year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign in the Qing Dynasty, and was under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Prefecture. In 1914, Huaxian County was under the jurisdiction of Yuehai Dao. In 1919, it was directly administered by Guangdong Province. In 1936, it was incorporated into the First Administrative Supervisory District of the province. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, it was under the jurisdiction of the Xijiang Administrative Office. In 1943, it was re-incorporated into the First Administrative Supervisory District, and the following year, it was transferred directly to the provincial government. Huadu District's intangible cultural heritage includes clay sculptures, the Pangu King's birthday, Hakka folk songs, the art of Zhongcai enamel craftsmanship, the Huadu Lantern Festival, southern lion dances, Cantonese opera, and Ruiling bonsai.
