Mingxian Mausoleum is a national key cultural relic protection site. It is located in Songlin Mountain on the eastern outskirts of Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province. It is the joint burial tomb of Emperor Gonghexian, the father of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, and his mother, Empress Dowager Zhangsheng. It is the most distinctive imperial mausoleum in my country's thousands of years of history. Xianling Mausoleum was built in 1519 (the 14th year of the Zhengde reign of the Ming Dynasty) and completed in 1566 (the 45th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty), taking a total of 47 years to complete. Its enclosed mausoleum area is 183.13 hectares. The entire mausoleum has two feudal walls. The outer wall is more than 3,600 meters long, with a wall 6 meters high and 1.8 meters thick. The red walls and yellow tiles are magnificent and golden, winding and undulating among the mountains. It is majestic and spectacular. It is the most complete and unique surviving city wall among the imperial mausoleums of all dynasties in my country. The mausoleum consists of more than 30 large-scale buildings, including the inner and outer walls, the front and rear treasure cities, the square city Minglou, the Lengsi Hall, the Ling'en Gate, the Shen Kitchen, the Shen Treasury, the Mausoleum Households, the Military Households, the Shen Palace Supervisor, the Merit Stele Tower, the New Red Gate, the Old Red Gate, the inner and outer Mingtangs, the Jiuqu Imperial River, the Dragon-shaped Sacred Way, etc. Its layout and conception are ingenious, the halls and pavilions are dragons and phoenixes dancing, the craftsmanship and reliefs are exquisite, and the double tombs in one mausoleum are rare in the world. It is a treasure of ancient Chinese architectural art. The uniqueness of Xianling mainly comes from the fact that the royal tomb was converted into an imperial tomb, forming a mausoleum with two tombs, which is unique in the world and extremely precious.
