Sochi is located on the Black Sea coast, at the border between Krasnodar Krai, Russia, and Georgia. Measuring 40-60 kilometers from north to south and 145 kilometers from east to west, it is the narrowest city in Russia and one of the narrowest in the world. Sochi shares the same latitude as Jilin City, Jilin Province, China, but the temperature difference is stark: the lowest temperature in Sochi never drops below 5°C. Nestled between mountains and water, the northern mountains shield Sochi from the cold Siberian winds, while the southern Black Sea provides warm breezes. This unique landscape contributes to Sochi's warm climate.
The subtropical Mediterranean climate is suitable for tourism all year round.
Ostrovsky House Museum
Not far from the Sochi Winter Theater, on Pavel Korchagin Street, at 4 Korchagin Street, stands the Ostrovsky House-Museum. This is where Ostrovsky, the author who inspired Pavel, spent most of his writing career. Unable to write due to the trauma of war, Ostrovsky dictated his literary masterpiece, How the Steel Was Tempered, to his wife for her to complete. In the last five months of his life, Ostrovsky recorded his readings of chapters from How the Steel Was Tempered via radio in the house gifted to him by the former Soviet government.

Stalin's former residence "Green Grove"
Stalin's villa in Sochi, named "Green Jungle," is located on a hillside on the Black Sea coast. The entire building is painted green, blending in with the surrounding forest. The villa's layout is in the shape of a concave U-shaped building. Aside from the main gate, the villa is surrounded by two-story buildings on the left, center, and right sides. In the center, a small lawn sits atop a towering palm tree, providing shade for the tables and chairs beneath.
The villa houses Stalin's office, billiard room, swimming pool, and conference room, all of which are preserved in their original state from Stalin's time. Outside, a chess table displays the same chess pieces Stalin once used. The swimming pool, 1.6 meters deep, was custom-built for Stalin. Stalin's office features his desk, bed, wardrobe, and a horsehair bulletproof sofa. A silver set on his desk was a gift from Chinese President Mao Zedong.
Today, Stalin's villa is not only a museum, but some of its rooms have been converted into guest rooms open to tourists, with prices ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 rubles.
