Hulun Lake, also known as Dalai Lake and Hulun Pond, is a sister lake to Buir Lake. Local herders call it "a lake like the sea", and in Mongolian: Dalai Nur. Hulun Lake is located between Xinbarag Right Banner, Xinbarag Left Banner and Zhalainuoer District in the western part of Hulunbuir Grassland in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is the largest lake in Inner Mongolia, the largest lake in Northeast China[2], and the fifth largest freshwater lake in China. It is a freshwater lake of tectonic origin whose mineralization is greatly affected by the environment.
