
Located in Songpan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, Huanglong Valley is known as the "Fairyland on Earth" because of the many colorful pools in the valley, which change into a variety of colors as the surrounding scenery and the angle of sunlight change. Huanglong Valley is famous for its "Four Wonders" of colorful pools, snow-capped mountains, canyons, and forests, and the "Seven Wonders" of rapids, ancient temples, and folk customs .
The scenic area consists of Huanglong Valley, Danyun Gorge, Muni Valley, Xuebaoding, Xueshanliang, Hongxingyan, Xigou and other scenic areas. The main scenic area, Huanglong Valley, is located at the foot of Xuebaoding, the main peak of Minshan Mountain, facing the source of Fu River. It resembles the image of "dragon" in the minds of Chinese people, and has therefore been regarded as the "symbol of China".
Huanglong is famous both at home and abroad for its large-scale, ingeniously structured and colorful surface travertine landscape, and is renowned for its rare karst landforms, making it a paradise on earth.
Huanglong has a humid and cold climate, with long winters and a short summer, resulting in a continuous spring and autumn. The best time to visit Huanglong is from April to November; the park is closed during the rest of the year due to winter.
