The Genyen Scenic Area, located in Reke Township, Litang County, southern Kangnan, is centered on Mount Genyen, at an altitude of 6,204 meters. Surrounding it are peaks, primeval forests, grasslands, lakes, hot springs, temples, and a vibrant Tibetan landscape. The scenic area boasts comprehensive facilities and captivating scenery. Numerous hot springs make it a "geothermal hot spring town." Mount Genyen, known in Tibetan as Jiama Riba, is the 13th goddess among the 24 sacred mountains of Tibetan Buddhism in my country and one of the eight sacred sites of Chakrasamvara. In Tibet, the only sacred sites of Chakrasamvara are the Himalayas and Mount Genyen. 2,900 years ago, legend has it that Sakyamuni Buddha praised Mount Genyen as a sacred and pure place for meditation. Mount Genyen's main peak is captivated year-round by snow, shimmering with golden light in the sunlight. On a clear day, the majestic peak, towering into the clouds, can be seen from 200 to 300 kilometers away. The mountainside is adorned with pristine forests, cascading waterfalls. Below, vast grasslands and forests, along with crystal-clear lakes, lie vast expanses of land. Musk deer, bears, and rare pheasants like the Tibetan pheasant often roam the forests, creating a vibrant and wild scene. Mount Genyen is a popular destination for mountaineering enthusiasts both domestically and internationally, with numerous international expeditions visiting in recent years. From August 9 to 12, 1987, Kazuo Tobita, Tetsuro Ito, and 12 other members of the Japanese Himalayan Haizi Mountaineering Team, in four groups, successfully reached the summit of Mount Genyen for the first time along the southeast ridge.
