Introducing Sunite Left Banner
Sunite Left Banner (abbreviated as Dongsu Banner) is located in the northwest of Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia. It borders Mongolia to the north, along a 316-kilometer-long border. It borders Zhengxiangbai Banner and Zhenglan Banner to the south, Sunite Right Banner and Erenhot City to the west, and Abaga Banner to the east. It is a purely pastoral border banner, predominantly inhabited by the Mongolian ethnic group. The Banner People's Government is located in Mandulatu Town. In modern history, it is not only a sacred site for Tibetan Buddhism but also renowned as a hub for the dissemination and research of literature, art, and medicine. In the eastern part of Sunite Left Banner lies Xuanshipo, 15 kilometers east of Mandulatu Town, the seat of the Banner Government. During the Northern Expedition in the first year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Chengzu Zhu Di left authentic inscriptions such as "Xuanshipo" and "Limafeng" here. The three characters "Xuanshipo" are inscribed in vigorous brushstrokes on a 450-centimeter-long and 400-centimeter-high granite stone in the shape of a lying bull.
