Chengshantou, located on the Jiaodong Peninsula, is the easternmost point where China's land meets the sea. It also serves as the easternmost tip of the Weihai Chengshan Mountains, hence its name. Standing at 200 meters above sea level and surrounded on three sides by the sea, Chengshantou offers lush, rolling peaks and a vast, uninterrupted ocean, making it an ideal tourist destination.
Chengshantou is the first place in China to witness the sunrise over the sea, often called "China's Cape of Good Hope." In 2005, it was ranked first among China's eight most beautiful coastlines by National Geographic China. As long as there's no fog, you can usually see the sunrise.
The mountains within the scenic area are very steep, offering views of peaks and lush greenery. Standing on the sea-viewing promenade, you'll be greeted by the vast ocean, dotted with reefs like the General Rock and the Small Stone Forest, offering breathtaking views. Legend has it that Qin Shi Huang visited Chengshan several times in search of the elixir of immortality, leaving behind the only Shi Huang Temple in China.
Spring, summer and autumn are all suitable seasons, especially summer vacations to escape the heat and play in the sea. In winter, the temperature is lower, the sea breeze is stronger, and the vegetation is relatively sparse. The scenery is not as pleasing as in spring, summer and autumn, but in winter you can enjoy the unique spectacle of huge waves and flying snow in Chengshantou Scenic Area.
