Arong Banner, a banner under Hulunbuir City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located at the eastern foot of the Greater Khingan Range, between longitudes 122°2′–124°5′ east and latitudes 47°56′–49°19′ north. It faces Zhalantun City across a river to the west, borders the Zagedun Mountains and the Molidawa Daur Autonomous Banner to the east, is connected to Oroqen Banner to the north, and borders Yakeshi City to the northwest. It borders Gannan County, Heilongjiang Province, to the south, separated by the Jinjie Moat. As of 2010, Arong Banner administered seven towns and four ethnic townships. Within the county are Najitun Farm and Genihe Farm. The Alun River flows through the banner.
