Introducing Xinzheng

Xinzheng's history dates back to ancient times. Emperor Huangdi established his capital here. The Huangdi's hometown is a national 4A-level scenic spot, divided into three main areas: the ancestral worship area, the hometown shrine area, and the square area. Every year, thousands of descendants of the Yellow Emperor, both from home and abroad, visit here to trace their roots and pay homage to their ancestors. It is also the hometown of Leizu, the mother of the Chinese nation. Because she invented sericulture, she is known as "Leizu the First Silkworm." The sixth day of the sixth lunar month marks the wedding anniversary of Huangdi and Leizu. To commemorate Leizu's contributions, the 12th Leizu Cultural Festival was held in July 2012 in front of the Leizu Palace atop Shizu Mountain in Xinzheng, Henan. Other attractions within the area include the Peiligang Ruins, the Zheng State Chariot and Horse Pit, the Zheng-Han Ancient City, Juci Mountain, Zhengfeng Garden, and the Huangdi Ancient Date Garden.
