It is 80 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital Zhengzhou and 40 kilometers north of the ancient capital Kaifeng .
The Eight Scenic Spots of Tongxu are: Spring Clouds over Yu Tomb, Autumn Wind over Shu Tomb, Late Ferry over Baigang, Night Watchmen over Shuanggou, Autumn Wind over Shu Tomb, Snow Clearing over Shangcang, Cuckoos, and Evening Glow over Liancheng at Qinggang.
The four seasons are distinct: spring is warm and dry with high evaporation; summer is hot and humid with concentrated rain; autumn is cool and sunny with long sunshine; winter is cold with little rain and snow.
