Long County, formerly known as Longzhou, is named for its location on the eastern slope of Longshan Mountain. The Baozhong Railway and Provincial Highway 204 run through the county, making it a major crossroads connecting Shaanxi, Gansu, and Ningxia provinces and a key border trade hub. The Guanshan Grassland within the county is the only provincial-level scenic spot in inland northwest China that features alpine grasslands and a European-style atmosphere. Its natural landscapes include mountains, canyons, forests, grasslands, and various astronomical phenomena. Visitors can not only enjoy the European-style grassland scenery but also enjoy horseback riding, archery, and fitness activities.
