Introducing Loufan
Loufan County, a county under the jurisdiction of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is located northwest of Taiyuan, in the heart of the Lüliang Mountains, and along the middle and upper reaches of the Fen River. "The Zhou king depicted the Loufan Kingdom in his maps." Loufan was originally the name of an ancient ethnic group or tribe, but later evolved into a geographical concept, becoming the names of prefectures, counties, and townships. The ruins of the ancient Loufan Kingdom's capital are located one mile northwest of Chengdonggou in Majiazhuang Township. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the ancient Loufan Kingdom established its capital here. Later, it was conquered by King Wuling of Zhao, but the remains of the city walls remain. Unearthed artifacts from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods include pottery, swords and halberds, bronze shears, and warhorse skeletons.
