Changzi County, under the jurisdiction of Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, is located in southeastern Shanxi Province, on the western side of the Shangdang Basin. To the east, it borders Changzhi County, bordered by the Taihang Mountains. To the west, it borders Qinshui and Anze. To the south, it borders Gaoping, and to the north, it borders Tunliu. Experts have documented that Changzi County was the fief of Danzhu in ancient China, the hometown of Jingwei, and the ancient capital of Western Yan. The county's name stems from the fact that Danzhu, the eldest son of King Yao, was granted a fief there. In July 2007, Changzi County was designated a "Millennium Ancient County" by the United Nations.
