It belonged to Shangzhou during the Xia and Shang dynasties, boasting a history of over 2,500 years. Established during the Han Dynasty, it was originally named Chunliu. In the fifth year of the Tang Dynasty's Wude reign, the county was relocated to Huobi Village, and its name was changed to Tunliu. Tunliu is a nationally recognized health county, a garden county, a provincially recognized civilized and harmonious county, and a model county for environmental protection. The county boasts 600,000 mu of cultivated land and abundant coal resources, with a current raw coal production capacity of 23 million tons. Tunliu has a long history, dating back to the Western Han Dynasty. Historical records include myths and legends such as "Yi the God Shooting the Sun," "Wang Jian's Battle at Tunliu," "Bian He's Acquisition of the Jade Jade," and "Zhang Liang's Acquisition of the Military Strategy." During the revolutionary war years, Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Deng Xiaoping, Liu Bocheng and other older generation proletarian revolutionaries left their glorious footprints here. The main battlefield of the world-famous Shangdang Campaign was located in Laoye Mountain in Tunliu.
