Cangshan, formerly known as Mount Yu, is a National AAAA-rated scenic spot nestled among the mountains to the east of Cangshan Village, Changchi Town, at the western foot of the Taihang Mountains, 18 kilometers north of Yu County, Yangquan City, the eastern gateway of Shanxi Province. Bordered by Shijiazhuang to the east, Taiyuan to the west, Niangzi Pass to the south, and Mount Wutai and Xibaipo to the north, it boasts a unique and picturesque natural beauty. Legend has it that during the Spring and Autumn Period, Zhao Shuo, a high official of the State of Jin, was murdered by the Duke of Jin. Before his death, Zhao Shuo entrusted his orphaned son to his retainer Cheng Ying. Cheng Ying abandoned his own son and took Zhao Shuo's orphan, Zhao Wu, into hiding in Mount Yu for 15 years. Later generations renamed Mount Yu Cangshan and established a shrine to commemorate the site, boasting a history of over 2,600 years. It is a designated a third-batch cultural relic protection site in Shanxi Province.
