
Rongchang District, part of Chongqing Municipality, China, lies between 105°17′-105°44′ east longitude and 29°15′-29°41′ north latitude, in the western part of Chongqing. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period, Rongchang was a vassal state of the Ba State. In May 2015, the State Council approved the abolition of Rongchang County under Chongqing Municipality and the establishment of Rongchang District. More than 10 mineral resources have been discovered in Rongchang District, primarily coal, natural gas, clay, shale, limestone, sandstone for building materials, quartzite, and mineral water. Biological resources include over 160 species, including cash crops, medicinal plants, garden plants, livestock, poultry, and freshwater fish. Major food crops include rice, wheat, sorghum, and corn, while cash crops include tea, sericulture, and ginger. Livestock and poultry primarily include pigs, sheep, and geese. The Rongchang pig is recognized as one of the eight most famous pigs in the world and one of the three most famous pigs in China.
