Elephant Hill Park, a 4A scenic area, is centered around Elephant Trunk Hill. Located at the southern end of Binjiang Road, where the Taohua River meets the Li River, it is named for its resemblance to a giant elephant drawing water from the river. Its captivating, lifelike appearance is considered a representative of Guilin's landscape and a symbol of the city. Elephant Hill is even featured on the city's emblem.
Xiangshan Park is a lonely and steep mountain with ancient rocks, vines climbing on the cliffs and banyan trees clinging to the trees. It has always been a tourist attraction, and its beautiful scenery, magical images and moving legends have attracted countless scholars and literati.
Elephant Trunk Hill
The top of the mountain is flat, shaded by trees and has secluded paths. The Puxian Pagoda, a Ming Dynasty building, stands here. The pagoda is more than 10 meters high and is named after the bluestone flat-carved statue of Puxian Bodhisattva embedded in the north side of the pagoda. The shape of the Puxian Pagoda resembles a sword handle and a treasure bottle, and it is ancient and solemn. Standing on the top of the mountain and looking into the distance, you can take in the beautiful scenery of Guilin mountain city.
Shuiyue Cave
Located between the trunk and legs of Elephant Trunk Hill, Shuiyue Cave was formed approximately 12,000 years ago when the Earth's crust rose and the Li River narrowed, accelerating its development. This circular cave, open from east to west, is 17 meters long, 9.5 meters wide, and 12 meters high, covering an area of approximately 150 square meters.
