Introducing Tongyu

Tongyu is located in the eastern part of the Horqin grassland and is connected to Changling County in the south. There are three large and medium-sized reservoirs in the area, namely Xianghai, Xinglong and Shengli. It is rich in natural resources. Agricultural and livestock products such as sunflower, melon, castor, miscellaneous grains and beans, grassland red cattle, and Xianghai fish are exported overseas.

The Xianghai Nature Reserve within the area is a national 4A-level scenic spot and a world-class A-level wetland; the 20,000-acre Baolawendu apricot forest is a provincial-level nature reserve; and the 10,000-acre Xinglongshan Mongolian yellow elm forest is the largest in Asia. Tongyu also boasts a rich history and numerous cultural attractions, including the Xianghai Temple, the Ulantala Ruins, the Qing Dynasty Princess Tomb, and the Aobaoshan Neolithic Ruins.
