Laohei Mountain is located in Wudalianchi City, north of Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province.
One of my country's typical volcanoes, it is the highest of the 14 volcanoes. The mountain is towering, with an altitude of 515.9 meters. The mountain forest is mostly composed of black pumice, hence the name "Laohei Mountain."
There are winding roads on the east and north sides of the mountain that lead to the top. There is a funnel-shaped crater on the top of the mountain with a diameter of about 350 meters and a depth of about 140 meters. The inner wall is steep and the scene is eerie.
The mountain is composed of two overlapping volcanic cones, an early one and a late one. The early cone was destroyed and occupied by the late eruption. The difference between the early and late cones can be seen from the density of vegetation. It is a dormant active volcano.
