Along the Great Wall, there is a place that has both Chinese and Western cultural elements. It is located in the north of Bataizi Village, Anlebao, Zuoyun County, Shanxi Province. It was originally named Bataizi Our Lady Church, also known as Bataizi Church.
The Bataizi Our Lady Church was once a Catholic church, a fairly ordinary one even in China, and only ruins remain today. However, due to its proximity to the Great Wall, it is the only structure on the wall that embodies the interplay of Chinese and Western cultures. It showcases the symbols of both cultures, embodies history, and embodies beauty. This has attracted a large number of Great Wall enthusiasts who travel thousands of miles to visit and photograph the site.
