The Yalong River is the largest first-level tributary of the Jinsha River. It originates from the southern foot of the Bayankala Mountains in Chengduo County, Qinghai Province. It flows from northwest to southeast through Nidakanduo and then enters Sichuan Province. Below Lianghekou, it flows mostly from north to south and flows into the Jinsha River under the Yajiang Bridge in Panzhihua City. It is a typical high mountain canyon river.
