Fojing Mountain, located in Shuangxi Township, Hanyuan, at an altitude of 2,617 meters, is a government-opened religious venue. The temple was relocated here from Shanqingli, Mianzhu, during the Ming Dynasty, and was named after the tranquility and peace of Buddha.
There is a Longfo Temple built on the top of the mountain. It is said that in the second year of Ganlu in the Western Han Dynasty ( 53 BC during the reign of Emperor Xuan of Han), Pratyekabuddha was born on the bank of Han River (now Lanjiaying) with a huge body. He remained silent for many years and then ascended to Jiguan Mountain. He felt uneasy and flew back to this mountain. It was called "Buddha Jing" and it was named after it. It was a place for Pratyekabuddha to practice during the Han, Jin and Sui dynasties.

Fojing Mountain is a sacred site in Sichuan, known for its ancient Buddhist temples and cultural heritage. It has long been a destination for pilgrims and those seeking tranquility, surrounded by lush landscapes and scenic beauty. The mountain is also rich in folklore, with many local legends related to the temples and natural formations found there.
Fojing Mountain is located in Ya'an, Sichuan, approximately 50 kilometers from Chengdu. It can be accessed by taxi or private car, with the journey taking about 1.5–2 hours. Public buses also run from Ya'an city center to the base of the mountain, though a taxi or private car is the most convenient option.
The mountain is open year-round, and visitors can come anytime during daylight hours. The best times to visit are in the spring and autumn when the weather is mild and the foliage is beautiful. Summer can be hot, and the area tends to be busier during holidays.
The entrance fee to Fojing Mountain is typically around 50–80 RMB. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the entrance, and in some cases, tickets may be available for purchase online, especially during peak travel seasons.
Booking tickets in advance is generally not necessary, but it is recommended during peak seasons or for special events. Booking a day or two in advance is sufficient to secure your spot during busy periods.
It typically takes about 4–5 hours to explore the mountain fully, including hiking, temple visits, and taking in the scenic views. If you plan to visit the hot springs or participate in other activities, you may need additional time.
The must-see highlights include the ancient Buddhist temples, the panoramic viewpoints from the mountain summit, and the lush forested areas along the hiking trails. The natural hot springs near the base of the mountain are also worth a visit for relaxation.
Guided tours are available in Mandarin. English-speaking guides may be available upon request, but it's best to arrange this in advance. Audio guides are not typically available, but the tour guides provide in-depth explanations of the history and culture of the area.
The best viewpoints are at the top of the mountain and along the hiking trails. The panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains are stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. The temples, with their ancient architecture set against the backdrop of nature, also offer great photo opportunities.
Start at the base of the mountain, hiking through the scenic paths that lead to the temples. Spend time exploring the main temples, and then continue to the summit for the best views. If you have extra time, you can visit the hot springs or take a detour to other nearby attractions.
Night visits are not commonly available, and there are no regular light shows. However, special tours or events may be organized during festivals, so it's worth checking the local schedule before your visit.
The mountain can get crowded on weekends and during Chinese public holidays. The least crowded times to visit are weekdays, particularly early in the morning or later in the afternoon, outside of peak tourist seasons.
There are public toilets along the hiking trails, and basic food stalls are available near the entrance and at key points on the mountain. Rest areas are provided for visitors to take breaks, and small shops sell local snacks, souvenirs, and bottled water.
The main areas of Fojing Mountain are accessible by foot, and while there are some stairs and steep areas, there are also paved paths for easier access. However, it might be challenging for elderly or disabled visitors to navigate the more rugged sections of the mountain.
Both cash and mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) are accepted for ticket purchases and at most shops on the mountain. Credit cards may not be accepted in some smaller shops, so it's best to carry cash or use mobile payment apps.
