Introducing Chittagong
Chittagong is Bangladesh's largest port city and second most populous. Located on the northeastern coast of the Bay of Bengal, Chittagong boasts a thriving industry and commerce, serving as a major industrial base and transportation hub. The riverside port boasts 17 docks and berths, allowing ocean-going vessels to ply the Karnaphuli River, while large vessels load and unload cargo outside the port. The port boasts an annual throughput of 4 million tons.
The pier next to the Saha Amanat Bridge is the largest fishing pier and fish trading market in Chittagong. Every day, fishermen go out to sea early in the morning to catch fish and then sell them here. Although the market is crowded and a bit dirty, you can see a variety of different fish here, and they are cheap and very fresh.
