Taichung Railway Station, located in the heart of Taichung City, was built during the Meiji era. It is considered a landmark of Taichung's urban development and is closely tied to the city's modern history. Today, the station boasts a rich Renaissance-Baroque architectural style, with a central gabled design and a bronze roof. Designated a Class II historic site, it is the most beautiful and complete surviving train station in Taiwan.

The old station was closed on October 15, 2016, and from the 16th, all trains will be routed via the elevated station.
