Stretching 2.2 kilometers from east to west, its main peak rises 668.1 meters, a 204- meter height difference from the Wuyang River . The northern peak, facing the city, rises like a vast screen within the mountain. The sheer cliffs, thousands of feet high, are described as " straight and vast like a screen , " hence the name.
On the southern foot of Shiping Mountain, the quaint Siheyuan buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties surge like waves, together with dozens of county-level cultural relics protection units such as the city wall, Siguan Hall, Tianhou Palace, Fire God Temple, Confucian Temple, Zou Gong Temple, Su Mansion, Beiji Palace, Zihuang Pavilion, Qingshi Cave, as well as numerous ancient alleys, ancient wells, ancient docks, forming a huge ancient architectural complex.
Southeast Guizhou has beautiful scenery in summer and is a good place to escape the heat; the climate is better in autumn with clear and cool weather.
