Blue River National Park is located more than 60 kilometers south of the main island of New Caledonia. Due to the movement of the earth's crust tens of millions of years ago, this island was separated from the continental shelf. Due to its isolation, this isolated island is not affected by the outside world. The animals and plants on the island can continue to grow naturally. Special species account for more than 80%, and these precious species can be traced back to the Jurassic period.

In the southern part of the island, black and red soil covers a vast area. The heavy soil is rich in nickel, iron and manganese, and the nickel ore reserves rank first in the world.
