During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the region bore the footprints of Confucius, Zhuangzi, Lao Laizi, and Guiguzi, representatives of Confucianism, Taoism, and the School of Diplomacy. Confucius once ascended the eastern mountain and gazed upon the small Lu , leaving behind relics such as Huimaling, Shengqishi, and Xiaoluchu. Guiguzi trained and taught here, developing over a hundred disciples, notable among them Sun Bin and Pang Juan. Han Dynasty historian Cai Yong and others once lived in seclusion on the mountain.
