no stamp by entering Bali with electronic visa (ITAS)

Hello everyone,

I recently obtained a VOA (Visa on Arrival) or electronic visa for Bali successfully. Upon arrival at the airport.

I presented the printed version of my visa and was directed through the electronic gates by airport staff. I placed my passport on the scanner, and the gate opened without any issues. However, when I tried to proceed to the customs area next to the gates, the staff informed me that it wasn't necessary. Instead, they assured me that I would receive an email confirming the activation of my VOA (ITAS).

The email arrived promptly, stating that my ITAS (VOA) was activated and indicating that I must leave Bali by April 1st. While I appreciate the efficiency of the electronic system, I can't help but feel uneasy about not receiving a physical stamp in my passport. Has anyone else encountered a similar experience or can provide reassurance about this process?

Thank you for any insights or shared experiences.

I have just recently done the same process and l noted l had to leave Bali by the 2 April. They just told me to take a copy of the visa and keep on my phone for when l leave, l did that and saved the two emails sent to me after paying for the visa. No lm not worried about the fact that l have no stamp as we are in the system and it’s only a stamp after all, you have the entire copy of your visa and that’s all that matters. I also paid the tourist tax after leaving customs and baggage collection, l was the only person at the huge counter to pay the tax, however peace of mind for only IDR 150 000 was worth the fee as l don’t know what the process will be when leaving. The entire process took quicker than it took for my luggage to eventually appear.

thank you! so much!

I had the same email last trip (arrival late November) even though at that time, a small white visa sticker was placed in my passport as it was pre electronic gates. I had a 60 day e-voa.

yes, and that is the thing, before I also had that, but not this time........ but I hope it will be fine.....

Post 4. I have a new 60 day e-voa for a trip commencing next month, expect to use the smart gates and for nothing to be placed in my passport. That's the whole idea of doing things electronically.

Totally agree with having No stamps in my passport, electronically is definitely the way to go. I have an extra thick passport which has a lot of stamps in it. The last time l exited Bali they couldn’t find my entry stamp. I was sent to an office to a guy with a magnifying glass and he had to go through each and every stamp in my passport. My passport is now up for renewal soon and l can’t wait to get rid of all the confusing stamps.

I know the feeling Janice. My last passport ran out of pages in about 6 years, as the old 60 day visa from the consulate was one full page, and the stamp entering/leaving Indo took the page beside. And another country I was visiting regularly also liked to use a double page to add the visa at the border, and the one opposite to stamp on departure.

Post covid, we've had 5 trips with 60 day e-visas and only had those tiny white ones. Agree they are so hard to find on departure.

ok! thank you, you made my day!

How did you receive the email.

When I arrived I paid at the counter and did not get any email and was not asked by anyone what my email was and then was informed to proceed to the electric gates.

I didn't get a stamp, just a visa on arrival receipt and no email as nobody asked for my email?

Please confirm how they knew where to email you your paid visa?
