Day trips from KL

Hello all

We have four days in KL. Usually for us one or two cities days are enough. What are the best day trips to take outside of the city. This is a four day break between time in Indonesia and Thailand.

Melaka is a nice day trip, a couple of hours by coach each way.

Batu Caves is an easy half day trip by commuter train from KL Sentral as well.

You have several options, ranging from Kuala Selangor to Bukit Tinggi to Putrajaya - which is just an MRT ride away.

Or stay in a glass house in the jungle:

We loved Ipoh. Easy to reach by train.

Depends on what you prefer. Here are some suggestions -

1. Hire a driver to bring you around Klang, the royal town. It's a food paradise. From there take a short ferry ride and explore Crab Island (Pulau Ketam). On the way back or on the way there, stop by Shah Alam and have a look at the Mosque.

2. Hire a driver and bring you to see the fireflies. Start in the afternoon to go to the town of Kuala Selangor. Have a look at the lighthouse. When its evening, go to the riverside for a sunset seafood dinner. When its dark, to the fireflies at Kampung Kuantan.

3. Hire a driver and visit the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctury. On the same trip you can also visit Genting Highland and Colmar Tropicale. If you want to eat where the locals eat, you can have lunch at Goh Tong Jaya half way up Genting Highland,

4. Hire a driver and visit Fraser's Hill. On the way there can visit the cave Gua Tempurung. Can also visit the hot springs in Sungkai (Sungkai hot springs)

5. Spend a day at Sunway Theme Park

If you have kids Sunway Lagoon is indeed a good option for a day out as VC suggested.

Just watch out for lightning. They close stuff when there's electrical storms.

Thank you for this so far, I should have mentioned that we are young active retiree travellers

Young at heart. Sunway Lagoon theme park for sure haha.

I think you may find my suggestions 1-4 interesting then,
