Train booking timescales

Hi All,

I booked a train ticket from Nuriwaya Eliya to Ella for the 15th Feb with 12 Go Aisia back in December but I haven't heard back whether I have been successfully allocated a ticket for the train.

I contacted them but just got a generic message about being busy. It says you should get confirmation 29 days before the departure but we're already down to 16.

Does anyone else have an experience booking like this and how long it takes to get full confirmation?

12Go is known to use not only the online and callcentre channels but also the counters (physical tickets), that is one reason why they can be late. And possibly, if all else fails, they even strike a deal with the black market ticket mafia and buy (at ' discounted' price) in order to still have some margin themselves.

I am afraid the forum experiences tell that it can be up to a few days before travel that you might need to wait, but search recent forum discussions for more estimates.

15 is a Sat. There are lot's of seats available on train no 11043 new Odessey train.

Thank you. It does seem to be a tight timescale, they also say they need at least 5 days to post to my accommodation.

I've just noticed this, I'm sure that there hasn't been any availability when I've previously checked. I think I will use this as a backup as I really want to travel this route. Thanks

As someone else on this site mentioned, don't give up on the official site. Hearing that the mafia bought up all the tickets within a minute of them coming up for sale, I got onto the official site VERY early. No tickets. Tried again later in the day. No tickets. Eventually, I gave the whole thing away, but about four days later I was looking for something else and casually typed in Kandy and Ella and my travel day. Lo and behold, there seemed to be a hundred or more tickets over the three classes. So keep checking. I don't know WHY they bounce back so late, however!

Can I ask if you have received your tickets yet? I’m having the same problem with i2go - I’ve booked for 5 March and like you I keep being told to be patient but am thinking we won’t get them now.
