Vietnam Trip in March End

Hi I am planning to go to Vietnam in the last week of March for 11 days. I will be going to hanoi, ha long bay/cat ba (yet to decide. Will prefer a luxury less crowded cruise for one night to celebrate my birthday), hoi an and Danang for 2 night.

Now I am confused on rest of northern Vietnam. Requesting your suggestions.

My interest is to see Ban Gioc waterfall if considerable water is there in March and to see some beautiful rice fields

1. where can I see lush green rice fields -pu luong or mai chau or ninh binh

2. what will be the waterfall situation in Ban Gioc Waterfalls.

Thanks in advance :)

"where can I see lush green rice fields -pu luong or mai chau or ninh binh"

All of the above.

"what will be the waterfall situation in Ban Gioc Waterfalls"

The falls fall all year long. I am told that the Vietnamese controll the flow of water to them. Makes sense as there are hydro power plant up river.

There is more to Đàm Thuỷ Commune/Trùng Khánh District than the waterfall.

How are traveling? By private transport or by bus/van?

Take care 🙂

Thanks Michael. I am planning to take van/bus. I have read somewhere in Trip advisor that in March end or April rice fields will not be green as it's start of plantation season. May/June is the harvest season? Is it true?

"May/June is the harvest season? Is it true?"

Yes, for the places you mentioned in your first question. The first harvest. They plant (transplant) in February, or earlier, so the fields are lush and green in March.

I'm not sure what the rice situation is around Ban Gioc/Đàm Thuỷ.

"I am planning to take van/bus."

You go either north or south, otherwise you'll spend (waste) a lot of time in transit.

Yes

I am planning 2 to 3 days central Vietnam ( Hoi an and Danang)

Rest all Days in North Vietnam

"Rest all Days in North Vietnam"

Sorry.

I meant north of Hanoi for Ban Gioc or south of Hanoi for some combination of Tam Coc / Mai Chau / Pu Luong.

Take care 🙂
