Great itinerary suggested in Post #2, my only suggestion would be to skip Ravangla and include Pelling for day 4 and 5

@brave1 yes...the suggestion you have put in to include Pelling on day 4 and 5 is very much doable but only the concern is the destinations one need to cover i.e. Chardham - Samdruptse - Buddha Park and Pelling would be bit long and hectic as it can be done but one will have to start early from Gangtok and cover all the mentioned places and reach Pelling and by the time one reaches Pelling, it will be late in the evening and the travel in itself will be through winding hill roads and will make anyone very tired.

Rest, there are always a room to amend the travel itinerary.

Thanks a lot this is really helpful.

But Pelling has much more to offer than Ravangla, Chardham may be skipped in exchange for the magnificient view of Kanchendzonga from Pelling. Its a trade off, depending on what one wants.

Hi there,

October is a wonderful time to visit Sikkim and Darjeeling with kids — the weather is pleasant, skies are usually clear, and you’ll get beautiful mountain views. Since you’re traveling with your 5-year-old son, I’d suggest keeping the itinerary light with shorter travel times and kid-friendly sightseeing.

Suggested 8-Night Itinerary (Family Friendly):

Day 1: Arrival at NJP/Bagdogra – Transfer to Darjeeling (relax after journey)

Day 2: Darjeeling sightseeing – Toy Train (joy ride), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoological Park, Tea Garden visit

Day 3: Tiger Hill sunrise, Batasia Loop, Japanese Temple – free evening at Mall Road

Day 4: Darjeeling to Gangtok (via scenic Teesta route)

Day 5: Gangtok local sightseeing – MG Marg, Flower Exhibition, Ropeway, Namgyal Institute

Day 6: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir (Note: Check altitude comfort for the child; if not suitable, do Rumtek Monastery + local exploration instead)

Day 7: Gangtok to Kalimpong – visit Delo Park, Pine View Nursery, and leisure time

Day 8: Kalimpong to NJP/Bagdogra for departure

This plan balances sightseeing with enough rest, so your child enjoys the trip without being overtired.
