My friend just realized that her first and last names were swapped on her India e-Visa (ETA) — the names are correct, just in the wrong order. All the other details (passport number, nationality, and date of birth) are completely correct.
The visa has already been granted, and her flight is in two days, so there isn’t enough time to reapply. She has already emailed the official Indian e-Visa support but hasn’t received a reply yet.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Were you still able to board your flight and enter India without any problems?
Any advice or experience would be really appreciated — we’re both a bit nervous! 🙏
Thank you so much in advance.
I am aware of two similar cases very recently, the first was exactly the same as your friends, all the names were on the ETA but in the wrong order, the second the person had made a mistake and put the short version of their christian name which they go by instead of the full name on the passport. Although I agree with Igirl that it wont be a problem so long as all the names are there, both these people emailed evisa support, neither got a reply but both checked their visa status a couple of days later and the mistakes had been rectified so worth them doing that.
I had the same thing happen a few years ago. I had no problems when entering India.
