Hi all, I am arriving to Bozeman Airport in the afternoon, and wanted to stay at west yellowstone, what do you recomend is the best way to get there? Y see shittles/taxis are pretty expensive. Is the road easy to drive and rent a car? Thanks!! Victoria
The drive from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) to West Yellowstone is a common route for visitors to Yellowstone National Park, and renting a car is generally considered the most practical option.
The distance is approximately 90–100 miles depending on the route, and the drive usually takes around 2.5 to 3 hours under normal conditions. The main route is straightforward: take US-191 south from Bozeman through Gallatin Canyon, which is scenic and well-maintained.

Alternative options:
Given the distance and convenience, renting a car is usually the best choice. It gives you flexibility to stop along the way for photos, groceries, or meals, and once in West Yellowstone, it’s useful for getting around the park and town. If you’re comfortable with mountain driving, this is a very doable and scenic route.
