Hi there- we are coming to Savannah this March 21-24
I understand spring is a good time for azaleas and dogwood blooms. Is there anywhere that they are especially prevalent?
We are staying downtown and plan to walk the squares and such but have a car so can get out of town a bit if needed
TIA for any replies!
Visiting Savannah in late March is a wonderful time for enjoying spring blooms. The city is famous for its azaleas, dogwoods, and other flowering trees, and the combination of historic squares and nearby gardens makes it easy to enjoy them.
Within Savannah, you’ll find vibrant azaleas and dogwoods throughout the Historic District. Walking the squares is especially rewarding this time of year:
If you’re willing to drive a short distance outside downtown, there are additional gardens and estates that are renowned for spring blooms:
Late March is typically the peak for azaleas in the Savannah area, so your timing is excellent. Early mornings or late afternoons are ideal for fewer crowds and softer lighting for photography.
