2 questions

Hi everybody… Coming in this Sunday for four nights. We are too older couples, but definitely Young and heart and still like to have fun! I was thinking of going to the dueling piano bar one night after dinner. Does it get really crowded during the week if we arrived at nine would we be OK? Any other rooftops or bars with music that you would recommend

The last question we were thinking of driving out to Tybee island and stopping at Bonaventure cemetery and maybe Port Pulaski. Do you think it’s worth going? It’ll take up The whole day and there are so much to see and do in Savannah itself. I’m conflicted..

It sounds like you’re in for a fantastic time in Savannah! Let me address your two questions in detail:

1. Dueling Piano Bar & Rooftops/Bars with Music:

The dueling piano bar is a popular spot in Savannah, but it tends to get more crowded on weekends, especially Friday and Saturday nights. On weekdays, it’s usually a bit quieter. If you’re planning to arrive around 9 PM on a Sunday, you should be fine as it may not be as packed. However, I’d still recommend getting there a little earlier, around 8:30 or 8:45 PM, to grab a good spot, especially if you want to sit close to the pianos.

As for other rooftops or bars with music, here are some great options you can check out:

  • The Rooftop at The Peregrin: A chic rooftop bar with great views of the city. It often has live music or DJs in the evenings, and it’s not as crowded as some of the other spots in Savannah.
  • A stylish, cozy spot with a cool ambiance and live music. It’s in a historic building, so it has a unique atmosphere, and the drinks are fantastic.
  • Jazz’d Tapas Bar: If you like a more laid-back vibe with music, this is a great place for live jazz music along with delicious tapas. It’s an intimate, fun spot and a little more relaxed than some of the high-energy bars.

2. Tybee Island, Bonaventure Cemetery & Fort Pulaski:

Visiting Tybee Island, Bonaventure Cemetery, and Fort Pulaski would certainly make for a full day trip. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Tybee Island: Tybee is a beautiful beach destination with a laid-back vibe. If you’re looking for a quiet beach day, it’s worth the trip. You can explore the lighthouse, relax on the beach, or even rent bikes to explore the island. However, if you’re only planning on staying for a few hours, it may be a bit rushed if you want to also do Bonaventure and Fort Pulaski.
  • Bonaventure Cemetery: Bonaventure is a beautiful, historic cemetery, famous for its picturesque oak trees draped with Spanish moss. It’s definitely worth visiting if you appreciate history, beautiful scenery, or photography. It’s a peaceful and serene place, perfect for a slow, reflective stroll.
  • Fort Pulaski: Fort Pulaski is another great spot to explore if you’re interested in Civil War history. It’s an impressive fort with lovely views and a nice place to walk around. There are also interactive exhibits and reenactments at certain times of the year. However, keep in mind that it might take up a few hours to fully explore.

Is it worth going? It depends on what you’re looking for. If you enjoy history, nature, and a slower pace, then yes, it’s worth visiting. However, if you feel like you may not have enough time to fully enjoy Savannah itself, you might want to stick closer to the city. Savannah has so much to offer in terms of history, gardens, architecture, and cuisine that you won’t be short of things to do!

Conclusion: If you decide to visit Tybee Island and the other spots, just be prepared for a day full of sightseeing. But if you’re more in the mood to explore Savannah itself, you’ll have plenty to enjoy without feeling rushed. Either way, you’re sure to have a fantastic time!
