All the Marriott options you listed in Savannah’s Historic District are centrally located and within walking distance to many attractions, but each has its own style and strengths. Here’s a breakdown to help you choose based on walking convenience, amenities, and overall experience.
Hotel Overview:
- SpringHill Suites Downtown/Historic District: Spacious suites with separate living areas, ideal for a longer stay or if you prefer more room. Breakfast is included. Located close to the riverfront and major squares, it’s very walkable for restaurants, shops, and historic sites.
- Fairfield Inn & Suites Downtown/Historic District: Smaller property with comfortable rooms and a complimentary breakfast. Walking distance to Forsyth Park and the historic squares. Slightly quieter and more budget-friendly than some of the other options.
- Aloft Savannah: Modern, trendy hotel with a youthful vibe. Located near Broughton Street shopping and City Market, making it great if you want to be near lively bars and restaurants. Rooms tend to be smaller than SpringHill or Residence Inn.
- Courtyard Savannah Downtown/Historic District: Classic hotel layout with a bistro for breakfast and light dining. Very central location, easy walk to River Street, City Market, and historic squares. A good balance of modern amenities and historic charm.
- Residence Inn Downtown/Historic District: Full suites with kitchens, perfect if you want to prepare some meals or enjoy a longer stay feel. Walking distance to River Street, shops, and squares. Great for travelers who like space and self-catering options.
Best Choice Based on Walking Distance and Historic Savannah Experience:
- If your priority is being close to restaurants, River Street, and squares: Courtyard Savannah Downtown or Aloft Savannah are excellent choices.
- If you prefer more space and a suite-style stay: SpringHill Suites or Residence Inn provide larger rooms while still being walkable to main attractions.
- For a quieter, budget-friendly option with breakfast included: Fairfield Inn & Suites works well, still within easy walking distance to key sites.
Overall, all five hotels offer good access to Savannah’s highlights. Your choice depends on whether you value modern style and nightlife (Aloft), suite space (SpringHill or Residence Inn), classic downtown walking convenience (Courtyard), or budget-friendly comfort (Fairfield Inn).
