Somewhere between Omaha and Bentonville

Since the majority of the drive is MO i thought I would ask this here....Heading from Omaha to Bentonville, AR next week to see my dad. I used to always stop at Pecans and More in Rich Hill on my way down and back. I just really loved it. It closed during the pandemic and never reopened, I am now looking for suggestions for a simalar place to stop along the way. They had all kinds of different homemade foods, Jams, dip mixes, homemade crafts, fudge etc. I know its random..

Driving from Omaha to Bentonville, AR through Missouri offers some opportunities to stop at charming local stores and markets similar to what Pecans and More offered in Rich Hill. While that specific shop is no longer open, there are still a few notable options for homemade foods, jams, crafts, and regional specialties along the way.

Here are some recommended stops:

  • Missouri Star Quilt Company – Hamilton, MO: While primarily known for quilting supplies, their shop complex includes small gift shops with homemade goods, local snacks, and craft items. It's a slight detour but a unique experience.
  • Red Barn Farm & Market – Clinton, MO: Offers local jams, jellies, baked goods, and seasonal produce. They sometimes have handmade crafts as well.
  • Van Meter State Park & Gift Shop – near Jefferson City, MO: This small gift shop features Missouri-made items including local preserves, fudge, and crafts. It’s a good midway stop if you want a nature break.
  • Lehmann’s Candies – Springfield, MO: A local candy shop offering homemade fudge, chocolates, and small gift items. A fun treat if you want to satisfy a sweet tooth.
  • Local Farmers Markets: Depending on your travel day, some towns along I-35/I-44 and US-65 have small farmers markets with homemade foods, crafts, and jams. Towns like Bolivar, Lebanon, or Rolla sometimes have open-air markets.

Tips for the trip:

  • Check hours of these shops ahead of time as many are seasonal or have limited weekday hours.
  • If you want something more like Pecans and More with a large variety in one location, the best bet may be Springfield, MO, which has several specialty food stores and local markets.
  • Allow for a small detour or two off the main highway to get the most unique and homemade-style products.

Overall, while no single stop may fully replicate Pecans and More, combining a few local markets and specialty shops along your route can capture the same charm and variety of homemade foods, jams, fudge, and crafts.
