Where to Stay with Access to KCPC?

Traveling to KC for the NWSL Championship Game in November and trying to figure out where to stay. Ideally, an area that I can get to the evening game w/o driving, a hotel that has free or inexpensive parking nearby for a rental car and options for a hotel in or near a neighborhood to explore since this will be my first time in KC. Traeveling with teens.

For the NWSL Championship Game in Kansas City, staying somewhere that balances easy access to the stadium, walkable neighborhoods, and convenient parking is key, especially if you are traveling with teens and have a rental car.

KCPC (Children’s Mercy Park / Sporting Kansas City Stadium) is located in the suburb of Kansas City, Kansas, so staying nearby can reduce stress on game day. While many visitors choose to drive, there are nearby areas where you can walk to the stadium or take a short shuttle or rideshare.

Here are some good areas and hotel options to consider:

  • Village West / Kansas City, KS – Right near the stadium and Legends Outlets. This area is convenient for walking to KCPC and has plenty of chain hotels with free or inexpensive parking. You can also explore the outlet shops and dining options.
    • Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City at Village West
    • Drury Inn & Suites Kansas City Village West
    • Hampton Inn & Suites Kansas City at Village West
  • Downtown Kansas City, MO – About 15–20 minutes drive from KCPC, but offers a rich urban experience with walkable neighborhoods, museums, shopping, and restaurants. Many hotels have parking garages (sometimes free or valet). Staying here is great if you want more city exploration with teens.
    • Hotel Kansas City – historic, centrally located
    • 21c Museum Hotel – modern, artsy vibe
    • Embassy Suites by Hilton Kansas City Downtown
  • Westport / Crossroads District – Trendy neighborhoods with nightlife, dining, and boutique shopping. About 15–20 minutes from KCPC. Less chain hotels, more boutique options. Can be fun for teens who enjoy street art, shops, and casual dining.
    • Crossroads Hotel – boutique style
    • Westport Inn – casual, mid-range

Parking considerations:

  • Most Village West hotels offer free parking. At the stadium itself, pre-paid or game-day lots may be available, but can fill quickly.
  • If staying downtown or in Westport, you will likely pay for garage parking ($15–$25/night typical) and should plan extra time for rideshare to the stadium.
  • Consider checking if your hotel offers shuttle service to KCPC or partnering with local shuttle companies on game day.

Summary suggestion: For maximum convenience with teens and minimal driving stress, Village West hotels near KCPC are the easiest. If you want a more vibrant city or cultural experience outside the game, downtown or Westport are excellent for exploration but will require driving or rideshare to the match.

Book early as hotels near KCPC fill quickly for championship events, and consider proximity to your planned evening meals and entertainment as well.
