Vegetarian/pescatarian friendly Restaurants

We escaped to Savannah from Tampa area and hurricane Milton. We are making the best of it, and trying to enjoy our time here. We are looking for suggestions for a vegetarian/pescatarian friendly restaurant for dinner tonight, maybe somewhere outside downtown. Possibly the Wormsloe area?? We will venture there later today.

Also, coincidentally, Savanah was on our list of places to check out for our next home, as we do not plan to stay in Florida, so if anyone wants to throw in neighborhoods/suburbs to check out, that would be great!

I'm glad to hear you're making the best of your time in Savannah despite the hurricane! Savannah has a variety of vegetarian and pescatarian-friendly restaurants, some of which are outside downtown and closer to areas like Wormsloe. Here are a few great options for dinner tonight:

  • The Wyld Dock Bar Located on the outskirts of the city, The Wyld offers a fantastic setting along the Back River and serves a variety of seafood and vegetarian dishes. Their menu includes options like fresh oysters, fish tacos, and a delicious veggie burger. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy seafood while being outside of downtown, close to nature and the Wormsloe area.
  • Fox & Fig Cafe While this is a bit further from Wormsloe, Fox & Fig Cafe is a must-visit if you’re looking for a fully vegetarian menu with many pescatarian options. Their dishes are plant-based, and they also feature locally sourced ingredients. Some standout dishes include the sweet potato tacos and their avocado toast. It’s a great spot for a healthier meal in a cozy, modern atmosphere.
  • Ardsley Station Located in the Ardsley Park neighborhood, this restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian and pescatarian options on its menu, from seafood pasta to delicious salads. It has a warm, welcoming vibe and a great bar selection. It’s a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the visit.
  • The Olde Pink House While it’s closer to downtown, The Olde Pink House is a historic restaurant offering great seafood options like shrimp and grits, along with other pescatarian-friendly dishes. They also cater to vegetarians, offering veggie-friendly sides and salads. It’s worth mentioning if you end up exploring downtown later!
  • Vinnie Van Go-Go’s This casual pizzeria is a favorite for both vegetarians and pescatarians. It’s located in the Historic District but a bit away from the main touristy spots. Their pizza options include veggie toppings and fresh seafood like shrimp and anchovies, and their outdoor seating area is great for a laid-back dinner.

If you're exploring the area around Wormsloe, you'll also be close to other lovely areas like Isle of Hope, which is a peaceful neighborhood with great water views and plenty of southern charm. In terms of neighborhoods to consider for a potential move, here are a few suggestions:

  • Ardsley Park A beautiful, residential neighborhood close to downtown. It's a peaceful, tree-lined area with a mix of historic homes and modern renovations. It offers a family-friendly atmosphere with local parks and cafes.
  • Isle of Hope A picturesque, quiet community located just south of downtown. It offers a waterfront lifestyle with beautiful homes, a relaxed vibe, and great local restaurants. It’s one of the more charming neighborhoods in the Savannah area.
  • Midtown This area is a mix of residential homes and businesses. It’s a great option if you want to be close to amenities but still have a bit more space and greenery compared to the more crowded downtown areas.
  • Sandfly A neighborhood known for its growing restaurant scene and a good mix of both older homes and newer construction. It’s a little further out but still close to the city, offering a quieter atmosphere.

I hope this helps you have a wonderful dinner and also find some great neighborhoods to explore as you consider your next move! Enjoy your time in Savannah!
