Drone show?

Hi. I am going to be in Denver later this month, staying in LoHi/Jefferson Park area. How visible is the show? Might I be able to see it from the roof of my bldg? Thanks.

Denver’s recent drone shows—typically held downtown near Civic Center Park, Union Station, or Ball Arena—are generally visible from surrounding neighborhoods, but the clarity and quality of the view depend heavily on your exact line of sight. Since you’re staying in the LoHi/Jefferson Park area, you’re actually in a fairly good position because the neighborhood sits slightly elevated above downtown and many buildings have rooftop decks with skyline views.

If your building’s roof has a clear view toward downtown Denver (especially southeast toward Civic Center Park or south toward Ball Arena), you will likely be able to see the drone formations in the sky. The shows usually take place several hundred feet above ground, which makes them visible from a distance—but details like shapes, animations, and colors are much more discernible when you’re closer to the launch area.

The biggest factor affecting visibility from LoHi is whether any buildings block your view of downtown. If your rooftop has a direct line of sight to the skyline, you should see at least a portion of the show quite well. If you’re lower or partially blocked, you may see only the upper portions or lights but not the full, crisp images.

  • If you have a rooftop with skyline views: You should see the drone show clearly enough to enjoy it without leaving your building.
  • If your view is partially obstructed: You’ll likely still see the lights but may not make out all shapes or animations.
  • If you want the full experience: Watching from downtown in or near the official event area provides the clearest, most immersive view.

The good news is that LoHi is close enough that even from a modest vantage point you should be able to catch at least a good portion of the show. If you want to confirm your sightline beforehand, check whether you can see the area around Civic Center Park or Ball Arena from your rooftop—if yes, you’re in great shape.

Overall, chances are good that you’ll have a convenient and enjoyable view right from your building, especially if you’re on a rooftop with an unobstructed view toward the downtown core.
