I can’t get a hold of anybody locally at Budget, and some info I found might be out of date. It’s been a number of years since we were last on Kauai, but I believe they have Budget Fast Break there still, is that correct? Also how does it work, will I just need to grab keys off a board and go to the car or is there a different line I have to go in?
I’d prefer to get my bags first and then go to Budget so my wife is with me to sign on as a second driver, but it’s a 3 leg 20+ hour travel day for us so would like to avoid the rental car line ups if possible. Maybe I still need to get off the plane and straight to Budget? Thanks.
The Budget Fastbreak program is still available at the Kauai Airport, and it’s designed to streamline the car rental process, making it faster and more convenient for members. Here's how it works:
1. Fastbreak Membership: To use Fastbreak, you’ll need to have a Fastbreak account. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up online before your trip. This will give you access to quicker car pickup and fewer lines. If you’ve used Fastbreak in the past, just make sure your account is active and updated.
2. Skip the Line: Once you arrive at the airport and head to Budget’s rental desk, Fastbreak members can typically bypass the traditional rental line. Instead of waiting in line to speak with an agent, you’ll either:
3. Signing for a Second Driver: It’s fine to pick up your car first and then return to the Budget counter to add your wife as a second driver. However, since you’re traveling from a long-haul flight, if you’re looking to avoid extra hassle, you may want to check with Budget about pre-authorizing a second driver on your reservation, or you can ask about adding her when you’re at the counter for a quicker process.
4. Picking Up After Bags: If you prefer to pick up your bags first and then head to Budget, you can do so. The Fastbreak line is typically faster than the regular line, but it’s still a good idea to pick up the car and keys before heading to baggage claim if you want to skip waiting entirely. You can ask Budget staff if they have any options to streamline the process if you need to wait for the second driver.
5. Final Steps: Once you get to Budget, just make sure to show your ID, sign the rental agreement (if not pre-signed online), and ensure any extra driver(s) are authorized. After that, you’re good to go!
It's always a good idea to confirm with Budget ahead of time, but in general, Fastbreak is designed to make your pickup as smooth and fast as possible. Safe travels, and enjoy your time on Kauai!
