Dauphine Orleans or Bourbon Orleans?

Hi. I am deciding between these two hotels for a trip in late March (my husband and I). I've stayed at the Bourbon before and liked it, but then I saw the Dauphine and it looks pretty good too, and thought about staying there for a change of pace. Is one better than the other, or it is just a toss up between the two and either one will be good? Thanks in advance for opinions!

Both the Dauphine Orleans and Bourbon Orleans are excellent options for a stay in the French Quarter of New Orleans, but each has its own unique charm. Here's a breakdown of both to help you make your decision:

Bourbon Orleans:

The Bourbon Orleans is a classic New Orleans hotel, located on the iconic Bourbon Street. It has a rich history and offers a more traditional, larger hotel experience. It's a great choice if you're looking for a centrally located, bustling hotel with a bit of old-world charm. Some of the benefits of staying at the Bourbon Orleans include:

  • Location: Situated directly on Bourbon Street, it's close to all the action. If you want to be in the heart of the French Quarter, this hotel is perfectly positioned.
  • Historic Charm: The hotel has a beautiful historic ambiance, featuring Southern-style decor and lovely courtyards. It’s known for its elegant, classic New Orleans feel.
  • On-site amenities: The Bourbon Orleans has a great pool, fitness center, and a lively bar, plus easy access to all the nightlife and bars on Bourbon Street.
  • Popularity: It's a popular spot, especially for those looking to be right in the middle of the French Quarter’s vibrant scene.

Dauphine Orleans:

The Dauphine Orleans, located a bit off the more hectic Bourbon Street, offers a slightly more relaxed and quieter stay while still being within walking distance to all the major attractions. This hotel has a more intimate feel, and the staff are known for being incredibly friendly. Some benefits of the Dauphine Orleans include:

  • Quiet yet Central: It’s just a block away from Bourbon Street, so you’re still close to the action but far enough to avoid the noise and crowds. This makes it ideal for those who want the French Quarter experience without the non-stop hustle and bustle.
  • Charming Atmosphere: The Dauphine Orleans has a cozy, boutique feel with an attractive courtyard and a beautiful outdoor pool area. It’s more laid-back, which can be a nice escape after a busy day exploring the city.
  • More Relaxed Experience: If you're looking for a more peaceful and private stay while still being able to walk to all the sights, Dauphine is a great choice. It tends to be a bit quieter than the Bourbon Orleans, especially in the evenings.
  • Excellent Customer Service: Many past guests mention that the staff at Dauphine Orleans are particularly helpful and accommodating, making for a more personalized experience.

Final Thoughts:

If you're looking for a more traditional, lively New Orleans experience with easy access to Bourbon Street and nightlife, then Bourbon Orleans might be the better choice. However, if you're looking for something quieter, a little more relaxed, but still close enough to everything, the Dauphine Orleans would be a great option.

Ultimately, both hotels are highly rated, so you can’t go wrong either way. It just depends on whether you prefer the vibrant energy of Bourbon Street or the peaceful charm of Dauphine. Either way, you’ll be in a fantastic location to enjoy New Orleans!
