March Nascar weekend

We haven’t been to Vegas for many years but are coming for a week to see the Nascar Race in March with a tour package. Package includes stay at Golden Nugget. We are staying at Golden Nugget for 4 nights and then moving to the MGM Signature for 3 nights. While at the MGM Signature, we have booked a show at the Sphere. Is it walkable (late at night)? Or do we have to figure out transportation from the Sphere back to our room? Hoping the weather is nice so we can spend some time relaxing by a pool, as we aren’t gamblers.

It sounds like you have an exciting trip planned! Staying at both the Golden Nugget and the MGM Signature will give you a great mix of downtown and the Strip. Here's what you can expect during your stay:

Walking from the Sphere to MGM Signature: The Sphere is located on the east side of the Strip, near the Venetian and Palazzo hotels. The MGM Signature is on the opposite end, near the southern end of the Strip, by the MGM Grand. Walking between the two locations is quite a distance — around 1.5 to 2 miles — and would take approximately 30 minutes to walk one way. While it's certainly walkable, it may not be ideal late at night, especially if you're looking to relax after the show. The Strip can be busy with foot traffic, but it is well-lit and generally safe. However, if you prefer not to walk late at night, transportation options are available.

Transportation Options: If you'd rather not walk back after your show at the Sphere, you have several options for getting back to the MGM Signature:

  • Taxi or Rideshare: Taxis or rideshare services like Uber or Lyft are readily available along the Strip. The cost of a taxi from the Sphere to the MGM Signature would be around $10-15, depending on traffic.
  • Monorail: The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the eastern side of the Strip, and you can catch it at the MGM Grand station. The monorail is quick and efficient, but it doesn't directly connect to the Sphere, so it may involve a short walk from the Sphere to the nearest station. However, the MGM Grand monorail station is close to your MGM Signature hotel.
  • Walking back: If the weather is nice and you're up for a walk, the Strip is bustling at night, and the distance is manageable. Just be mindful of the crowds, especially on weekends or event nights.

Relaxing by the Pool: Since you mentioned you're not big gamblers, taking advantage of the pools is a great way to relax during your stay. Both the Golden Nugget and MGM Signature have excellent pool facilities. Here's a breakdown:

  • Golden Nugget Pool: This is a beautiful, tropical-style pool with a shark tank and water slide. It's a popular spot for relaxation, and you can unwind here during the day. It's more of a resort-style pool, and while it's not on the Strip, it offers a great escape.
  • MGM Signature Pool: The Signature at MGM Grand features a quieter pool area compared to the main MGM pool complex. It’s more relaxed and offers a nice place to relax after a busy day, with a laid-back vibe. If you enjoy a more tranquil pool experience, this is a good option.

Other Tips: Since you’re coming for the NASCAR race, expect the Strip to be a little busier than usual, especially on race weekend. Be sure to plan your transportation around busy times if you want to avoid delays. Also, be sure to explore some non-gambling activities in Vegas, such as the many shows, the Fremont Street Experience, or enjoying the diverse dining options throughout the city.

Overall, you'll have a fun and exciting time in Las Vegas with plenty of options for relaxation and entertainment. Enjoy your trip!
