Christmas Day dinner

We are flying in on Christmas Day. Looking to see what is usually open for dinner so I can make reservations etc. not sure how much is open.

In Bozeman, many restaurants may be closed on Christmas Day, as it’s a major holiday, but there are still a few options that typically remain open for dinner. It's a good idea to make reservations as early as possible, as the options may be limited and some places might be offering special holiday menus.

Here are some places that are often open on Christmas Day in Bozeman, although I recommend calling ahead or checking their websites for specific hours and availability:

  • The Baxter Hotel - Known for its classic Montana-style dining, this hotel often has a holiday dinner service available, sometimes with a special Christmas menu. It’s a popular choice for visitors looking for a festive atmosphere.
  • Montana Ale Works - This popular spot offers a wide range of comfort food and craft beers. They usually remain open during the holidays, but it's best to check for their specific holiday hours.
  • Plonk - An upscale dining experience with a great wine list. They have offered special holiday dinners in the past, so it’s worth checking in advance.
  • John Bozeman’s Bistro - A local favorite with a cozy ambiance, John Bozeman's Bistro often offers dinner on Christmas, but reservations are recommended as they may have a limited menu.
  • Outlaw Brewing - For something more casual, Outlaw Brewing often stays open on Christmas Day, offering both their craft beers and a light menu. It's a great option for a relaxed evening.

If you’re looking for a more traditional or festive Christmas meal, it’s also worth considering hotels with dining options, as many hotel restaurants tend to offer holiday specials and are open to non-guests.

Additionally, if you prefer to dine in, some local restaurants may offer takeout or pre-made holiday meals, which can be a great way to enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner without the hassle of cooking. Check with places like The Cat’s Paw Café or Smitty's for takeout options, as they often cater to holiday travelers.

Be sure to book in advance, as these spots can fill up quickly during the holiday season. Enjoy your Christmas Day in Bozeman!
