Air show Mar29-30 2025
Hello, we’re looking to come down for the airshow and just was wondering about our recommendation from where to stay that’s close for viewing the airshow. Thank you.
The Key West Air Show is an exciting event, typically held at Key West International Airport, with aerial demonstrations that can be seen from multiple locations nearby. Since you want to be close to the action for viewing, staying in the northern part of Key West near the airport or slightly inland toward the Old Town area gives the best balance of convenience and access to restaurants, shops, and other attractions.
Here are some recommended areas and accommodations for proximity to the airshow:
- Near Key West International Airport (North Key West) – Ideal for walking or short taxi/rideshare to the airshow. This area is quieter at night and allows early access for the airshow. Hotels tend to be mid-range and convenient for families.
- Old Town Key West – About a 5–10 minute drive from the airport. Staying here puts you close to dining, shopping, and nightlife, while still being only a short ride to the airshow. Accommodations include boutique hotels, inns, and vacation rentals.
- Stock Island / Key Haven – Just east of the airport; a quieter area with more vacation rental options, good for families or larger groups. Slightly farther from downtown but still very convenient for the airshow.
Recommended hotels or accommodations for airshow convenience:
- Fairfield Inn & Suites Key West – Close to the airport, reliable brand, suites available for families.
- DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Key Resort – Waterfront property slightly south of the airport; family-friendly with pools.
- Hampton Inn Key West – Central location, good balance of price and convenience for airshow and Old Town attractions.
- Vacation Rentals / Airbnb near North Roosevelt Blvd – Many homes and condos within a short drive of the airport and airshow grounds, often ideal for larger families.
Tips for attending the airshow:
- Book early: Hotels fill quickly around the airshow weekend.
- Consider early arrival at the airport viewing areas to get the best spots.
- If staying in Old Town, plan rideshares or taxis ahead of time to avoid parking stress near the airport.
Overall, for the shortest commute and closest views, aim for accommodations near the northern end of Key West or near the airport itself, while Old Town is best if you want to combine the airshow with easy access to dining and Key West sightseeing.
