and also a rough guide on the temperature forecast for this period

Beijing’s air quality in late March to early April is generally variable. Spring is a transitional season, and pollution levels can fluctuate depending on weather patterns, wind, and regional dust storms. On average, you may experience moderate pollution levels, with occasional days of higher PM2.5 and PM10 readings, which can be concerning for children with asthma.

Tips for families traveling with children who have asthma:

  • Check the daily air quality index (AQI) using apps or websites to plan outdoor activities.
  • Limit outdoor exposure on days when AQI is high (unhealthy for sensitive groups: AQI above 100).
  • Consider wearing N95 or KN95 masks if going outside when pollution is elevated.
  • Keep inhalers and any other asthma medications readily available.
  • Choose indoor attractions such as museums, malls, or Beijing Aquarium during higher pollution days.

Typical temperatures for late March to early April in Beijing:

  • Daytime temperatures: 12°C to 18°C (54°F to 64°F)
  • Nighttime temperatures: 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F)
  • Weather is usually dry with occasional spring rain. Layers are recommended as mornings and evenings can still be quite chilly.

Overall, late March to early April is a reasonable time to visit Beijing, but it’s important to monitor daily pollution levels, especially with children who have respiratory sensitivities. Planning indoor activities as backup can help ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
